Did you know that Congress regularly makes changes to tax laws and they are often retroactive?  Katherine Gudgel, EA, PhD of Gudgel Professional Services will present information on how the recent federal tax law changes affect individuals and small businesses.  In addition, we will discuss how state tax law changes may affect not only the state tax return, but also federal.  This presentation is designed to help DMMs identify documents which may be relevant in the preparation of individual income tax returns.

Participants will learn:

  • What documents may be needed for the preparation of individual income tax returns (including identifying those that may not have been needed in the past)
  • Discussion of the new 1099-K forms and what additional documentation may be needed
  • Current status of IRS processing of tax returns and what increased IRS funding means for taxpayers

Intended Audience: Daily Money Managers who assist individuals (or couples or families) or small businesses collect documents for the preparation of income tax returns.

Presenter: Katherine (Katie) Gudgel

Katie is an enrolled agent and specializing in seniors and trusts. Enrolled Agents (EAs) represent taxpayers before all administrative levels of the Internal Revenue Service.  Since many taxpayers have difficulties just collecting all of their necessary tax documents, Katie joined AADMM and expanded her services to include Daily Money Management.
